The past three months have felt like a whirlwind in the very best way.
September kicked things off with our annual twenty percent off everything sale at Laurel Tree Fabric and Fibre. As always, it was a great success. We cleared space, shuffled shelves, and made room in the shop for all the new goodies that always seem to arrive right on cue.
At the beginning of October, I attended the Kootenay Quilters Guild with the Silver Thread Quilters Annual Show. I left feeling completely wowed and genuinely encouraged to try new techniques. I love that feeling you get at a quilt show, when you realize there are still so many ways to play, stretch, and grow.
I’m sharing just a few quilts from the show here to give you a taste of what inspired me.

Right after that, a friend and I travelled to Penticton for a class hosted by Black Rabbit. Terry Roland taught us how to create her Raven, and I learned so much. I walked away with a beautiful Raven that I’m now appliquéing onto its background. Once I quilt it, I’m going to proudly display it in the shop.
As soon as we got back from Penticton, my husband and I jumped into prep mode for our annual vacation. This year we travelled four thousand three hundred fifty kilometres in seventeen days. We got to see all of our kids, my mom, my oldest brother, and many, many friends.
Our route took us to Calgary, Weyburn, Regina, back to Weyburn, back to Regina (yes, we did that loop three times), then Saskatoon, Calgary, and finally home to New Denver.
In Regina, I had an amazing chance to meet talented indie dyers at the second annual Queen City Fibre Festival. I’m so excited about what I found, and you can expect to see some great yarn from Saskatchewan in the spring.
In Saskatoon, I attended the Saskatoon Quilters Guild Show. This guild has one hundred fifty members, and so many of them do truly out-of-the-box work. I took lots of photos for inspiration, and I’m sharing a few highlights. If any maker prefers I remove an image, just reach out and I’ll take it down right away.
And if you want to see more, stop by the shop. I took plenty.

Now I’m home, with our dog, and the shop is wonderfully stuffed with new fabric and yarn. Plans are already coming into place for FibreFeelia 2026.
Looking back, our trip was wonderful. Two quilt shows and a fibre festival in one stretch felt like a creative feast. Somehow it also feels like it happened ages ago, because life never stops offering the next opportunity, the next idea, the next spark.
Thank you for being part of this community, and for supporting the shop, the shows, and the kind of making that keeps us steady.
I hope you all have a great Holiday Season and a spectacular new year.
Take care, and create on.
